Black Box: Camille Henrot
March 5 – June 15, 2014
The BMA is the first museum in the United States to present French artist Camille Henrot’s Grosse Fatigue, an energetic and poetic 13-minute video on the creation of the world that won the Silver Lion Award at the 2013 Venice Biennale. This exuberant examination of the origins of life and myth incorporates behind-the-scenes footage shot at the Smithsonian Institute’s Museum of Natural History with exotic and familiar images, and sets them to a bold spoken-word soundtrack.
“[Grosse Fatigue features] … an expanding field of images that pop up, roil, collide, and implode across a computer screen, a digital tabula rasa that itself perpetually reinvents the world …” – ARTFORUM
